The KushKard Story

The idea hit Lauren Miele on Christmas Day 2013 while riding the 1 train in Manhattan. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology with a design degree, Miele saw a gap no one else was filling: there was no good way to gift cannabis with the same thoughtfulness as a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates. She wanted a greeting card that didn’t just accompany the gift — it held it.

Miele designed the first KushKard with a die-cut slot sized for a pre-roll joint and a match striker strip along the card’s edge. The concept was equal parts functional and irreverent, branding itself as “The Hallmark of Marijuana.” The design community and cannabis consumers responded immediately, and KushKard grew from a one-woman operation into a brand stocked in over 4,000 retail locations across the country.
