Flower For Sale at Yerba Buena Dispensary in Brooklyn

Flower is the natural form of cannabis: dried bud packed with trichome resin. Also called pot, herb or weed, it's the most versatile consumption method-ready for bowls, joints, blunts, or vaporizers. Flower can be categorized by indica, hybrid, and sativa; and chosen by strain, potency, and aroma, with effects that vary based on cultivar and cannabinoid profile which are dominated by THC and CBD.

Cannabis flower is the classic form of the plant: dried, cured buds ready to be smoked or vaporized. Brooklyn shoppers can find sativa strains for energy and focus, indica strains for relaxation and sleep, and hybrid strains that balance both. Each strain has its own THC percentage, terpene profile, and effect, which is why budtenders ask about preferences before recommending products. Quality flower is grown carefully, hand-trimmed, and cured to preserve aroma and potency. Beginners often start with balanced hybrids at lower THC percentages (around 15 to 20 percent), while experienced smokers may prefer high-THC sativas or terpene-rich indicas. Frequently Asked Questions

What should I look for when buying quality cannabis flower?
Look for flower that is properly dried and cured, with a fresh, aromatic smell and visible trichomes, the small resin glands that give it a frosty look and hold much of its terpene content. Well-grown flower is hand-trimmed and free of stems or seeds, and it should feel neither bone-dry nor damp to the touch. Our flower selection comes from small-batch New York cultivators and craft growers who take the extra time to cure properly, so what you're seeing and smelling on the shelf reflects real quality, not just packaging.

Are sativa and indica classifications still meaningful, or just marketing?
Sativa and indica started out as descriptions of how the plant grows, not how it makes you feel, and after decades of cross-breeding, most flower today is technically some degree of hybrid. That said, the labels still work as rough shorthand once you pair them with a strain's terpene profile and THC percentage, which tell you far more about the actual experience. Our budtenders in Cobble Hill go beyond the sativa or indica label when helping Brooklyn shoppers pick flower, focusing on terpenes and effects instead of the category alone. Curious what terpenes actually do? Our terpene guide breaks it down.

How is cannabis flower dried and cured, and why does it matter?
After harvest, flower is hung to dry slowly over one to two weeks, then cured in sealed containers for weeks or even months. This slow process lets chlorophyll break down while preserving the terpenes and cannabinoids that give each strain its flavor and effect. Rushed or careless curing leads to harsh, muted flower, while proper technique is what gives quality flower its smooth smoke and full aroma. It's a big part of why the small-batch flower in our Cobble Hill collection tastes and smells the way it does.

What are terpenes, and how do they affect my cannabis experience?
Terpenes are the aromatic compounds behind cannabis's range of scents, from citrus and pine to lavender and diesel, and they're believed to work alongside cannabinoids like THC to shape the overall effect, sometimes called the entourage effect. Two strains with similar THC percentages can feel completely different depending on their terpene profile: one more energizing, another more calming. Our terpene guide covers the most common profiles in more depth, and our budtenders can walk you through which ones show up in any strain on the shelf.

Can I find cannabis flower with higher CBD and lower THC in Brooklyn?
Yes. CBD-dominant and balanced flower, typically under 10% THC with a higher CBD content, offers a milder, more grounded experience without the stronger psychoactive effects of high-THC strains. It's a popular pick for people who want to try flower without feeling overly intoxicated, or who are simply curious about CBD's role alongside THC. Our guide to cannabinoids explains how CBD and THC interact, and our Cobble Hill budtenders can point you toward flower with the ratio you're looking for.

What is the best way to store cannabis flower to maintain freshness?
Keep flower in an airtight container, away from direct light and heat, ideally somewhere cool and dark. The sweet spot for humidity is around 55 to 62 percent: too dry and the flower turns harsh and brittle, too humid and you risk mold. A dedicated storage container works better than the original packaging for most people, since it cuts down on air exposure every time you open it. Good storage is what keeps the flower you bought from us tasting the way it did on day one.

What consumption methods work best with cannabis flower?
Flower is the most flexible format in the store: you can pack it into a bowl or bong, roll it into a joint, or run it through a dry herb vaporizer for a smoother, less combustive hit. Each method changes the onset, flavor, and intensity slightly, so it's worth trying more than one to see what fits your routine. If rolling isn't your thing, browse our pre-rolls collection for ready-to-smoke options, or our vaporizer collection for something that skips the prep entirely.
